Upcoming high-end phone from Xiaomi will utilize Samsung’s new 200MP camera sensor
This information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster. He shared the info via his official Weibo channel. He mentioned both 200 and 50-megapixel cameras for this device, though we’re not sure what exactly he meant. Google Translate did translate his post, but it seems like he mentions a dual primary camera setup with 200 and 50-megapixel cameras. He most likely meant a 200-megapixel main camera, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, though. So, what device is Digital Chat Station talking about? Well, it could easily be the Xiaomi 12. Xiaomi will likely announce several Xiaomi 12 models at the end of this year, or early next year, as its new flagships, and this sensor would fit in nicely. Now, the Xiaomi Mi 11 series was announced in late 2020, and released in January, so the same may happen with the Xiaomi 12. Also, Xiaomi is ditching the ‘Mi’ branding, so you won’t be seeing it moving forward.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also expected to use this camera sensor
Samsung’s Galaxy S22 flagships are also expected to utilize this camera sensor, at least the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Chances are that Samsung will plan to be the first to release a phone with this sensor, though. Also, do note that we’re only guessing that one of the Xiaomi 12 models may sport it, of course. We cannot know for sure, but it does make sense. We’ll have to wait and see, but Xiaomi will definitely look to use this camera sensor in a high-end phone. The ISOCELL HP1 is the world’s first 200-megapixel smartphone camera sensor. It is a 1/1.2-inch sensor, and it can produce 50-megapixel or 12.5-megapixel pictures using pixel binning technology. It’s quite an advanced camera sensor, and it will be interesting to see what OEMs can do with it.
