We’re expecting the Galaxy S23 to have an “Apple” level of iterative tweaks. In fact, we expect it to be about the same as this year’s phone. The Ultra variant, in particular, appears to be a carbon copy of the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra may come with an Ultra Stabilization mode
This leak is about as skin-and-bones as they come, but it’s from a trusted leaker. Ricciolo posted a short and sweet tweet saying “Galaxy S23 Ultra to feature Ultra Stabilization.” As the tweet states, this feature may only be on the more expensive Ultra model. That’s tough luck for the cheaper models of the phone, but not unexpected. It should be anyone’s guess that the Ultra model will have the most premium set of camera features. And, those cameras will be housed in what we think will be the same housing as the S22 Ultra. As the name suggests, Ultra stabilization will deliver extremely smooth videos. This will help people achieve the gimbal effect when holding the phone. It’ll be perfect for smooth pans. However, as smartphone cameras have taught us, the smoother the stabilization, the lower the resolution. Smartphone cameras typically use 1080p video or less for ultra-high stabilization. Now that phones can record in 4K and 8K, it seems a shame that this happens. However, this will be a new year and a new Snapdragon chip. There’s no telling if this Ultra Stabilization mode (if it actually comes out) will be able to stabilize sharper videos.
