This follows a recent Opensignal report that found T-Mobile’s 5G network was the fastest in the U.S. The carrier touched up to 118.7 Mbps in download speeds during the testing period between June 14 and September 11, 2021. Verizon finished in second place at 56 Mbps, while AT&T came in third at 51.5 Mbps. This new landmark holds a lot of significance for the company, given the competition it faces from industry rivals.
T-Mobile will begin a Halloween promotion with Reese’s on October 31
In addition to the news of its new 5G milestone, T-Mobile also announced (via) a Halloween-related partnership with Reese’s. Rebranded versions of Reese’s Take 5 candy bar will be sold under the “Reese’s Take 5G” moniker as part of this promotion. The carrier said that this candy would be available at T-Mobile “Apartment 5G” locations. The Halloween promotion with Reese’s will take place in select retail stores across NYC on October 31. The carrier said that ten visitors to its outlets could win a 5G smartphone, one year of T-Mobile service, and a year of Reese’s products. “T-Mobile continues to expand its 5G footprint at an unparalleled pace, so we partnered with the candy icons at Reese’s this Halloween to help spread the word and give everyone more of what they love — more Reese’s, at ultra-fast 5G speed!” T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said in a press release. Thanks to the inroads made in terms of 5G coverage, T-Mobile currently has a significant advantage in the 5G wars. In late June, the carrier said that its 5G network covered over 300 million people. Impressively, T-Mobile managed to reach this figure months ahead of its original schedule. T-Mobile also set the target of covering 200 million people with Ultra Capacity 5G networks by the end of 2021. With the figure breaching 186 million already, it seems like the carrier will comfortably reach this target as well.
