The best part about the Samsung Internet browser is that anyone with an Android smartphone can download it on their phone. However, if you use the Samsung Internet browser, then there is a piece of good news available for you. Notably, according to the latest report by Android Police, a new update for the Samsung Internet browser is out live. The latest version of the browser, i.e., v17, brings the long-overdue Web Authentication API along with the Smart Anti-Tracking feature. The Web Authentication API was under testing for quite some time in beta for the Samsung Internet browser, but now it is available as a part of the new update. Speaking of the Smart Anti Tracking feature, it is actually a collection of privacy features. It first appeared last year, and it makes use of on-device machine learning to distort tracking cookies, block malicious ads, and trigger other privacy features.
The new privacy feature will remove all tracking cookies from your device on a weekly basis
Some other notable features of the new Smart Anti Tracking feature include the ability to remove all tracking cookies from your phone on a weekly basis. Furthermore, Samsung has announced that Smart Anti-Tracking is now the default setting for devices in the United States, Korea, and Europe. There is, however, a manual toggle to turn it off inside Settings available for those who do not wish to use this feature. The new Samsung Internet browser v17 update also makes HTTPS the default for web browsing, protecting you from visiting unsecured websites. You can also view all your data and browser protection history, along with all the ways the Samsung Internet browser protects your privacy in the Privacy Dashboard. You can find it on the Quick Access page. The Web Authentication API makes it easier for websites to store your login tokens to enhance their security. Google Chrome has already had this support for a long time now, along with Mozilla Firefox. You can also make use of third-party hardware security keys or the phone’s inbuilt authentication. There are a few user interface improvements as well with the new update, as the browser now supports custom tab groups and the Live Text feature that helps to select text in images.
