WhatsApp has come a long way from being just an app for messaging and chatting with people to being a full-fledged communication application. By that, we mean, you can now place a voice call, video call, share your daily life via status, and much more. To recall, the voice calling feature was introduced back in 2015. This was after Facebook (now Meta) purchased WhatsApp in 2014. Later, the group calls feature was introduced to WhatsApp, which took the app to the next level. It is still lagging behind some of the other alternatives, like Telegram, in terms of features. WhatsApp is basically playing a catch-up game here. Whatever the situation may be, WhatsApp users, at least some of them, have already received the new voice call interface. As noted by Android Police, the user interface looks clean. News about it started pouring in in December last year. However, back then, only iOS screenshots were available. Thanks to WABetaInfo, we now have a clear look at the new interface for Android.
The background of the WhatsApp voice call interface now has a wallpaper
Speaking of other elements of this new WhatsApp voice call interface, a round grey square is visible in the front and center. It will also house the contact name, number, and profile picture as well. It will also give you information about how long the call has been going on. One of the biggest changes is that you now have wallpaper for the interface, at least partially. Previously, the WhatsApp voice call interface simply had a black background. Thanks to the redesign, the interface is now ornamented with WhatsApp’s default wallpaper. As per the source, there is no further option to customize this wallpaper or background. However, that may change in the future, and WhatsApp may give you the option to change the call background. Moreover, there are also chances of this wallpaper matching your chat’s wallpaper. The new design will also be implemented for group chats. It makes it less cluttered and gives it a fresh appeal. If you want to try out this new voice call interface, then you need to download the latest beta of WhatsApp version 2.22.5.4. You can grab it from trusted a third-party source APK Mirror. There is no clarity when this feature will make it to the stable version.
