The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is picking up the One UI 3.1.1 update with the firmware version F916BXXU2EUH5 in Europe, F916WVLU2EUH5 in Canada, and F916NKSU1DUH5 in South Korea. According to a SamMobile report, the update introduces the September 2021 Android security patch as well. The Galaxy Z Flip and Z Flip 5G are also now receiving the One UI 3.1.1 update in Europe and South Africa, at least. The firmware versions for the former are F700FXXU8EUH5 and F700NKOU3EUH5 in the two markets respectively. For the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, the new firmware is identified as F707BXXU5EUH4 in Europe and F707NKSU2DUH4 in Europe and South Korea respectively. Both of last year’s clamshell folding phones are also picking up this month’s security patch with the latest update. While we don’t yet know what vulnerability fixes the September security patch brings, we do know the contents of the One UI 3.1.1 update. There are plenty of new features to talk about. From Drag & Split and enhanced Multi-Active Window to Custom Aspect ration, App Split View, Cover Screen Mirroring, and persistent Taskbar, the new features significantly improve the user experience as well as the functionality of Samsung foldables. We have discussed all these features in detail here. Note that not all features might be available to every Samsung foldable. To be precise, many of these features are designed to make the most out of the Z Fold’s big screen. So they are not compatible with the Flip series devices. The original Fold also misses out on some features.
One UI 3.1.1 update for older Samsung foldables goes global
Introduced on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 last month, Samsung has been quick to bring One UI 3.1.1 to its other devices. It recently rolled out the compatible features to its non-folding Galaxies. The company is now seeding the foldable-specific features to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Z Flip, and Z Flip 5G. The original Galaxy Fold should also soon join the party. If you own any of Samsung’s older foldables, be on the lookout for a new update in the coming days. You can navigate to Settings » Software update » Download and install to check for the update.
