The new Telegram beta brings new video speed controls
Watching videos isn’t the most important part of a messaging app, but it still helps to have more control over the video options. In the beta, you will be able to control the playback speed of your videos. If you want to find the speed controls, you will be able to find them in the 3-dot button menu in the video player screen. The speed options that you have are similar to YouTube video controls. In terms of slowing down, you can adjust the speed to half speed and quarter speed. For speeding up, you can go x1.5 speed and double speed.
You can do more stuff while watching videos
Keeping with the topic of videos, you can do more things while watching them. Firstly, you will be able to browse messages while videos are playing. You can minimize the video and make it a little floating bubble. You can also pinch to resize. You will be able to move the bubble around the screen so that it doesn’t disrupt what you are doing.
You can share your screen on a video call
Sometimes there’s something important on your screen that you want to show the other party in a video call. This could either be for chatting or for business. With the new Telegram beta, you can now do that. There are a few limitations to this feature, however. Firstly, according to Android Police, this feature might not work on all devices, which makes sense as it’s still being tested. In order for this feature to work, both parties in the call need to be running the beta, so you will need to tell the other person to download it. Also, it appears that when you share your screen, there won’t be a window that shows your face. It might toggle between screen sharing and showing your face. That might not be a big deal to most, but hopefully, users will get the option in the future.
Last but not least, you’ll be able to automatically clear your chat history
A lot of people choose to delete their chats after a certain period of time. Telegram acknowledges this and is giving people the ability to do that automatically. When deleting your chat history, you will get the option to automatically delete your chats after a month. If you want to try out these features, you will need to download the current beta.
