According to the latest report by TechnikNews, Motorola is working on a new mysterious flagship device codenamed “Frontier”. The phone is allegedly already in the works, and sounds interesting in certain aspects. The most important thing, as noted by the leaks, is the fact that this Motorola “Frontier” smartphone will not come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. In fact, it will pack the successor of the Qualcomm 8 Gen 1 SoC. This new Qualcomm processor is said to carry the codename “SM8475”. There isn’t much information available about this upgraded SoC. However, it will be based on the 4nm process, and it is speculated to be called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Due to less credible information, we would suggest our readers take this piece of information with a pinch of salt. Talking about other specs, the Motorola Frontier device will come with a 6.67-inch FHD+ curved OLED display. It will also have a 144Hz refresh rate.
Motorola Frontier is rumored to come with 125W ultra-fast charging support
Motorola is also rumored to pack this Frontier smartphone with either 8GB or 12GB of fast RAM. The phone is tipped to come in two storage and RAM options, i.e. 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. On the rear, the phone is said to use a 200MP S5KHP1 sensor. So, it will utilize Samsung’s sensor. There will be another Samsung sensor installed on the phone. It could be a 50MP Samsung S5KJN1SQ03 sensor. This sensor will be used for an ultrawide angle camera. Completing the triple camera setup could be the telephoto camera. The sensor for this camera could come from Sony (IMX663), with a resolution of 12 megapixels. If the camera specs turn out to be true, and Motorola manages to tune these cameras perfectly, then we may have an impressive camera setup in our hands. For selfies, the Motorola Frontier may come with a 60MP OmniVision OV60A sensor. It is the same sensor that is found in the company’s Edge X30 smartphone. This also points towards another similarity that the mysterious Frontier phone has with the Edge X30. The device is rumored to come with 125W ultra-fast charging support. Not sure what this technology will be called by Motorola, as of now. There will also be 50W wireless charging support. This information is not official, so keep that in mind, and there is also no launch date available… yet.
