Finding a public restroom nearby with Google Maps is really simple, actually. All the app will need is location access, of course, and minimal interaction from you, that’s it. In this article, we’ll show you how to do that step-by-step. We’ll also include some screenshots, so that you can follow along.
How to find public restrooms with Google Maps
The first thing you need to do is enable the location access on your phone. Most of you likely have this enabled already, but in case you don’t, do that first. Once do that, find the Google Maps app on your phone, and fire it up. On most devices, you can swipe up on the home screen and choose “Maps” from the app drawer.
Once you do that, tap the “Your Location” option in the bottom-right corner. This is not exactly a mandatory step, but I like to do it regardless, just to make sure the app focuses on my exact location.
The next step will require some typing. Tap the “Search here” field at the top of the display inside Google Maps.
Once the keyboard pops up, type in “restrooms near me”, and confirm.
Google Maps will show you a list of public restrooms near your location that you can use. They’ll be shown on both the map, and listed below for you to check out. As per usual, you’ll be able to see working hours, and so on.
If you’d like to check out more details about a particular listing, choose it from the list. Alternatively, you can tap the “View map” option, to switch to map mode, and get a better look at restrooms around.
