The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will fuel every single Galaxy S23 model
Yesterday, a report surfaced stating that the Exynos 2300 may not launch at all. That was supposed to be Samsung’s next-gen flagship SoC. A well-known tipster, Ice Universe, shared the news. That same tipster shared a tweet earlier today, with an indirect confirmation that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be the only chip in the Galaxy S23 phones. He basically acted out a little play in a tweet, presenting joy in a European user because he got rid of Exynos. In the latest tweet he shared, he shared a statement from Qualcomm’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Akash Palkhiwala. You can see that statement in the image below. Mr. Palkhiwala clearly says that Qualcomm SoC share was 75% inside the Galaxy S22, and that it will go up to “global share” in Galaxy S23.
It’s not exactly a secret that Snapdragon chips have been performing better than Exynos processors for years. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variants of the Galaxy S22 were superior to the Exynos 2200 models. They not only offered better performance overall, but a bump in the quality of pictures that the phones provide, not to mention battery life benefits. Only European Galaxy S22 models ship with the Exynos 2200, by the way. Well, it seems like every Galaxy S23 will include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. European users may end up noticing a considerable improvement if that ends up being the case. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be manufactured by TSMC, as did the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is shaping up to be a great chip
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 offers better performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and much better power consumption. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is rumored to offer the same power consumption (or slightly better) as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, but with 20-percent better performance. Various other perks will be included, such as improvements to image processing, and so on. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 does look like a great processor on paper. So, let’s hope it will be a decent successor to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
