Of course, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold has a lot more to offer than just being a neat foldable, portable laptop shown off at an IFA convention. It’s got some pretty capable specifications for a general purpose computer. Thanks to components like the Intel Core U9 i5 and i7 CPUs and Intel Iris Xe GPUs. Lenovo also loaded it up with up to 1TB of SSD storage and up to 32GB of RAM. You won’t be playing games with graphics settings cranked all the way up on this thing. But then again it’s not really meant for that. It is however perfect for anyone that needs a portable laptop for school or work purposes. Especially if you find yourself limited on bag space. And should you decide to play games on it, it should handle some games ok. It is a full Windows PC after all.
Lenovo essentially took a Windows 11 tablet and turned into a book
Forget the configuration options. Forget the 16.3-inch OLED display with a 2024 x 2560 resolution. Forget this that this runs Windows 11, supports WiFi 6E and has a slot for a Nano SIM just in case you want cellular connectivity too. Ok, don’t really forget those things because they’re all great things about the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. The point is, what’s really worth focusing on, what grabbed our attention, is the formfactor. This is a 16.3-inch display. Which is by no means small when it comes to laptop screens or tablets. In fact, it’s quite big. And that’s great for when you need a lot of screen space. But what about when you need to pack it up and be on the move? Simple. Fold it up. Lenovo has more or less taken a Windows 11 tablet and turned it into a book. And best of all is that the whole thing weighs just 1.28 kg. Which is about 2.8 pounds. Even if you add the keyboard and stand (which you may need), the total weight is just over 4.1 pounds. Which isn’t bad for a 16-inch laptop. To top it all off, when unfolded it can be used in landscape or portrait orientation. Depending on your needs. It is pricey starting at $2,499.99. But if you have a need for something like this, and are most concerned with something that’s easy to carry with you everywhere, the price is likely worth it. Taking a fully functional Windows 11 laptop and making it as portable as the ThinkPad X1 Fold is no easy task. And that’s why we gave the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold the Best Of IFA 2022 Award.
