As of this writing, the latest update for the Galaxy Tab Active 3 is rolling out to users in Switzerland. The rollout should expand to other European countries within a few days and eventually reach more markets across the world. The new firmware version for the tablet is T575XXU3CVD1. This update comes with the March 2022 Android security patch. It isn’t the latest available as the April SMR (security maintenance release) is already live for some Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones. But we aren’t complaining. There are lots of other exciting things to look forward to here.
Galaxy Tab Active 3 gets Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4.1
Android is an open-sourced platform. This allows OEMs to slap a custom skin on top of the core Android software to give their devices a unique feel. Samsung calls its custom software One UI, with One UI 4.1 being the latest iteration. Debuted on the Galaxy S22 series in February, Samsung began pushing the Android 12-based One UI 4.1 to its older eligible devices last month. Dozens of Galaxy smartphones and tablets have received the new update over the past few weeks. The Galaxy Tab Active 3, which had yet to pick up the Android 12 update, is now receiving everything in a single package. With Android 12, users of this rugged tablet will get added privacy and security features from Google. These include display indicators for camera and microphone access. You can also see all the apps with camera access in one place and revoke the permission at once. On top of the Google-made features and changes, Samsung is offering its own add-ons too. To start with, we have some subtle UI changes that will further enhance your user experience. The Korean brand has also improved its stock apps such as Samsung Keyboard, which gets Grammarly integration to help you improve your written English. Material You-inspired dynamic theming is another notable feature that the Galaxy Tab Active 3 will get with this update. This feature lets you match the color scheme of the system UI elements with your wallpaper for a consistent look across the system. All in all, this is a big update with tons of new features and improvements all around. If you’re using the Galaxy Tab Active 3 and haven’t received the Android 12 update yet, watch out for it in the coming days.
